All booked up

On Thursday afternoon, the phone rang at last. Our visit was on the way back and we had a good reason, Finally let off by our to-do list.

Now we got a new task, because it sounded from the phone: “We would arrive in Vilamoura yes today to you, but we get more busy on the Internet no hotel. Somehow everything is fully booked!” All booked up???? There is something for? After their own Internet research we came to a similar result. Except for the suite of * Tivoli hotels for 1500 € per night was free only a spot in the youth hostel. That was then but unbeatable cheap in the eight-bed room with breakfast (75 € for 3 nights) Somehow, we were sure, that neither the one nor the other particularly would have thrilled to the two. On the spot we found the last for one night, free apartment for a reasonable price. Sure no luxury accommodation, aber wenigsten recht sauber 🙂 Wie es dann weitergehen würde, We had to discuss with the two at the lunch.

As we saw in the late evening again on the harbour promenade. We decided together, the SUMMER tomorrow to Albufeira to lay. There, the hotel situation was not quite so hopeless. In addition there Emil and Marita from the SY MIELI would wait on us. In case of emergency, even a double berth would be free on the MIELI.

The next morning we met at the buzzer for breakfast. Then the men in the direction of Albufeira wanted to sail, Claudia and I took the car. Unterwegs wollten wir dann auch gleich noch ein Hotel organisieren 🙂 So gaben wir kurz in der Marina Bescheid, that the SUMMER would be on the road until Sunday night and drove to Albufeira. After several detours to almost in the old town core we headed then but for now on the way to the Marina. Here we would find probably a car park and a Café and try from there, a hotel to organize. Because a central Tourist Office, one could help further with the acquisition of hotel rooms, not exist in Albufeira.

While we wandered through the countryside, had the men out there have fun. Dietmar had left the control of Reiner and traktierte his new “Trainees” with its high demands (I know, what I'm talking about :-)). But the two had lots of fun and the tour, which actually only less than two hours should take, withdrew more than planned in the length.

We now arrived at the port and had chosen just a restaurant, When my phone rang. Emil by the SY MIELI invited us for lunch. Than he could clairvoyance. For the SUMMER, he had reserved it a berth at the same Pier and also in terms of the restaurant, in which we inside wanted to celebrate birthday in Dietmar 50.ten, I got wonderful help.

KHX_2470

Now we were able to follow the men's sailing excursion easily on the computer and had amazed to find, that the two instead of the direct route (six nautical miles) had now already well above ten behind.

KHX_2449

At some point they came but then. Relaxed and grinning she maneuvered the buzzer in the box assigned to.

KHX_2444

It seemed really to have been a successful trip. Pure blood had leaked anyway.

KHX_2465

As the SUMMER was safely moored, the two came also still over on the MIELI and immediately got an ordinary investor beer served. And because it was so funny, decided we still together today evening for dinner to go, sozusagen als Generalprobe für morgen 🙂 Auch Dietmar übte im Restaurant schon mal seine Rolle für die morgige Geburtstagsparty 🙂 Da müssen wir wohl noch ein passendes Krönchen organisieren 🙂

A sea journey, that is…..

…..funny unfortunately not for everyone.

Right on time at 9: 00 Claudia and Reiner were at the gate of our bridge, ready for a sailing adventure with us and the SUMMER.

Right after leaving we could put already sailing Marina and Dietmar steered a course of the wind. Then he handed over the control with the task to control exactly 60 ° to the wind Reiner. He did so with much skill and dedication and thus distinguished himself as a natural.

KHX_2420

While Reiner went on in his role as helmsman, was Claudia, however, always silent. We knew this behavior but already and most of the time it was not a good sign. Unfairly hit the waves the female more “Landlubbers” on the stomach, While the men can not understand the whole.

KHX_2415

So we turned back for good reason and were moored an hour later back safely in the Marina at our berth. On the way back, Claudia got a healthy complexion again, now wind and waves from aft came and the movement was significantly softer than on the way.

The planned picnic, that we wanted to do on the water, We picked up just in the Marina.

If we get visitors on board. Most of our friends are more country people and a short trip on the wet element can be as easily to the problem once. It is the easiest way, If you at one “fixed” Place arranged and takes depending on the whim of there day tours. Sailing is just an additional option. Can you do, muss man aber nicht 🙂

After the exhausting trip, a break was announced for the two afternoon once, that they spent at the hotel pool. A little holiday must also be.

We use the time, to begin with the Organization of the next few weeks. Quickly our filled “to-do list”. There was but a lot to do :-). First, however, we set, When it should go back to the CESARINA. Already for the 8. September we could book flights. It is comfortable without train ride with SATA, the Azorean airline, directly from Faro to Lisbon, go then to Terceira and finally to Sao Jorge. We were once very relieved, all the way with only a provider without to carry out train or ferry at a good price.

With revolver stories and much laughter it was already significantly after midnight, before the two to your hotel broke up. Tomorrow she would leave us for a few days., to see more of Portugal. After Lisbon the tour with the car should go and take three to four days. We would diligently in our time “to-do”-List could work, and hopefully much do. We'd also significantly relaxed, If our visit comes back.

Surprise……Surprise

If I knew in may already, what organizational challenges I would be early September, would I be waived, for Dietmar 50. Birthday invite some surprise guests in the Algarve.

Unfortunately I could not clairvoyance but – or should I say “Gott sei Dank” 🙂 Ein paar Tage “Forced vacation” würde uns beiden nach den turbulenten Wochen ganz gut tun 🙂 Alleine würde ich den Chef sicherlich auch nicht bremsen können.

Are some time already I was in close contact with Claudia and Reiner, us today evening in Vilamoura “totally surprising” would expect. Now we needed from our Azores island on the mainland just yet as planned and on time back fly and return by train to the Algarve. We were going to the US between 9: 30 and 10 “random” in advance via SMS called restaurant at the port meet me.

Out of concern, that something could be I was a little nervous in the morning. The way was now also really long and there were many opportunities for breakdowns and unforeseen events.

In the run-up to Dietmar had made almost planning my niece, When he travel to the Azores from the 28. up to 30. August had planned. He had booked plane tickets even without my knowledge. I had but to prevent this accident, by I put our tight schedule as the reason for a previous visit to CESARINA. The airline had the tickets as an early birthday present, as the Lady at the travel agency noted, free cancelled. No joke!

But our return journey was completely uneventful until on a jacket forgotten at airport. We could win something even time (and taxi costs) in which we simply already in Quarteira, and thus a station formerly dropped out of our train. There we have come ever last week bus pass. Here one should say, dass Busfahren nicht bildet 🙂

Nevertheless we wandered only against ten o'clock on the harbour promenade along, because I was just sooo… hungrig 🙂 Nach einer gefühlten Ewigkeit (I could push Dietmar so badly to rush :-)) I spied the two – eigentlich genau im selben Augenblick wie Dietmar 🙂

DSC_5920

We had not seen each other months. Und nicht nur wir hatten viel zu erzählen 🙂 Erst morgens um zwei Uhr beendeten wir die lustige Runde, but not without to date us equal to the breakfast for the next morning. Because never is one with both the conversation and there is really much to laugh.

The next morning, then, we arrived at the hotel for breakfast, Because buying had I Yes unfortunately can no longer. Because the breakfast would have been but little too lean. Außerdem hatten wir uns in den letzten Tagen doch sehr schnell an ein gutes und ausgiebiges Hotelfrühstück gewöhnt 🙂 Mal gucken, whether the luxury hotel in Vilamoura with our * hotel Terceira could keep.

Those who already follow our blog, which would have fallen on, that lazy, lying on the beach, does not belong to our favorite things.

DSC_6087

Reiner and Dietmar wanted to right the way to the beach with a visit to the boatyard on the Marina area. This is while conveniently located within sight, But if you want to swim not over, so you must go around but the whole port basin.

From there we saw also eventually pass the men on the beach. On their way along the water, although every Beach beauty was extensively evaluated (Pure always said “scanned”), aber die gesuchten Ehefrauen sind ihren aufmerksamen Blicken entgangen 🙂 Trotzdem ließen wir sie nicht bis nach Albufeira weiterlaufen 🙂

A small strengthening we were looking for a nice place on the beach us together. Bath time was now! The Sun was high in the sky and it was quite warm. A dip in the Atlantic Ocean should now bring cooling. So I went with Claudia first on the way to the cool waters.

“Cool wet” was somehow not the apt description. The water was so cold, I got goose bumps even on the arms, was already as I'm only using the feet inside. Soft love to, aber doch keine Erfrierungen 🙂

Back in our men we had to listen to us then the clever sayings. Surprisingly, neither of them was willing but, terms of hero-jump into the waters. That would be completely under their dignity they meant. Somehow it galled me yet, that I had taken a bath in the Atlantic small frostbite. I've been in January on La Gomera in the water. It might not be here yes even worse. So I took all courage together and ground plunged into the water. Unfortunately, the feeling was “If you once inside, is it not as cold” even when swimming is not a. Claudia was following me now. Women are the real heroes?. However, we both were happy, as we again lay on our towels in the Sun. Now was once again “Thawing” angesagt 🙂

KHX_2410

In the evening we left the beaten track of Vilamoura then behind us and went by car to Faro. We made plans for the next day in a nice restaurant in the old town. Tomorrow we were going to go sailing. If the wind would allow it, After Culatra, we were planning to drive. This particularly beautiful corner, We knew that already from last year, wollten wir den Beiden doch so gern zeigen 🙂

A small world tour

Why is it actually, When the night anyway shortly through the alarm clock, plagued by a Portuguese killer mosquito?

Our Tuesday morning started early and because of the mosquitoes unfortunately also with moderately good mood. Without breakfast we headed to seven on the way, to go with our taxi ordered the previous day in the direction of Faro train station. With a small detour through the airport (The English of our taxi driver was probably not so good as expected) waren wir aber immer noch sehr früh am Ziel und es war endlich Zeit zum Frühstücken 🙂 Für unschlagbar günstige 5 We were saturated and provided with boxed euro.

On time at 8: 30 our train Faro left with the aim “Lisbon Oriente” and exactly as planned, we arrived at noon there. The train ride in the pleasant and spacious carriages was pleasantly. Only two American ladies, They sat till almost the end of the trip behind us, with their loud non - stop talking about all the important things of life our nerves quite worn. It was a bit like Chinese water torture: If you once had the pitch of both in the ear, again she was going on and it felt, as you slowly drilled holes in our eardrums.

From train station Oriente, we went by taxi to the airport of Lisbon. Here was some haste, Since we the conditions (Traffic, Removal, Roads and traffic at the airport) could not estimate. But again, everything went smoothly, and after a lunch at the box host (a Bavarian friend of ours always for McDonald's used this beautiful name) was it sated and strengthened to the gate.

But we have not betrayed Yes always have you, wo diese Reise eigentlich enden sollte 🙂 Mit dem letzten Blog vom 24. August we have stretched well quite some impatient on the torture. Our destination of today was Terceia. Diligent readers have now arguably an idea, why it drives us towards this, or rather why it drives Dietmar in this direction. For all, now do not know which, what it's actually about, can am 22. and 25. Juni nachlesen 🙂

After a pleasant flight, so we ended up on Terceira and Pieter and Rini, the Dutch owners of the CESARINA directly in reception included. With the car it went directly to the Marina of Angra, where the two are your piece of jewellery at the moment had.

KHX_2364

Of course many change of email and phone calls ahead took this visit. Aber nicht nur das 🙂 Als mir klar wurde, that the CESARINA was not only an obsession with my dear husband, had the blessing hung pretty wrong too a long time. The discussion on other ships, they were much great as our SUMMER, war mir nicht neu 🙁 Aber diesmal schien der Wunsch doch von sehr ernstafter Natur zu sein. So I had to leave at some point but convince me, to take the beauty again scrutinized.

Since the next days wind up thick nine announced was, We decided to make us a trip before the waters of Terceira. Even as Pieter the 23 Tonnes heavy and 17 Metre long yacht skillfully in the port turned, were we impressed. Would we get that too? She was simply impressive long, almost four meters longer than our SUMMER.

Out in the troubled and yet quite rough sea, you showed us your strengths. She has been built for such conditions and brilliant Nautor Swan has done his job. Soft she dived into the waves and ran as if on Rails at about 20 Knot wind calm and sure progress. And she was also still fast. I could see formally Dietmar heart beat. I felt the unknown ship safely.

KHX_2355

So we ended the day at Angra's Harbor Restaurant. There were yet very much to discuss, and also to talk about. Morgen würden wir ins Detail gehen und die CESARINA auf Herz und Nieren prüfen 🙂 Jede Schublade, the locker and every detail we wanted to see.

KHX_2377

Around midnight we fell exhausted into bed, but somehow we both could find no sleep. Too much excitement, Before friends but also worries drove carousel in our minds. Would turn these days on Terceira again upside our lives?

Some things to do

To Vilamoura, close to Faro drove us, the largest city in the Algarve, that has unfortunately not own port. So we made today with the bus on the way. Almost a three-quarters of an hour we gondelten through various hotel castles and villages, Faro until we finally reached.

Our goal was the German Honorary Consulate. It was time again, somewhat annoying paperwork to do. When we found the address on the Internet, were we more than happy. Somehow we feared already, Once again as in the last year, having to travel to Lisbon.

According to the Internet research was our goal close to the railway station. A not really inviting district, There were houses on its streets more or less dilapidated. Not five minutes later we were faced with the specified address. If it is correct, were we at least ten years too late. Das Haus war zum Abriss freigegeben 🙁

Very strange. You explained to us in the neighbouring PC shop, that there should be a street with the same name even further outside. To keep our appointment, war jetzt ein Taxi angebracht 🙁 Der Taxifahrer wollte uns zuerst einfach wieder dorthin schicken, where we just had come from. But so easily we could not get rid of us.

So we can overtake directions in Portuguese for the cab driver directly at the Consulate. You will help, where you can :-).

Not half an hour later we had done everything and once approved us a second breakfast, before we walked back to the Centre. In contrast our way led to the railway station district but due to much appealing areas and the old city centre next to the small motor boat Harbour (not for sailing boats, Driveway is dry) was really pretty.

KHX_2348

KHX_2347

But in the midday heat, we wanted to not stroll through the city. Also we had to go to the train station, to buy the tickets for our trip there to Lisbon Airport. Tomorrow we will make a little trip--and come back on Friday.

This morning it was to get up early, for my taxi to airport was ordered at 6: 30. Now you ask you sure: Why airport?????

The eingeschleppte by Dietmar from Germany a “Plague” was not without a trace passed somehow on me. As well as? We have been Yes the last seven days in cramped together and in the last night of our trip I had with undefined header, Ears- and to fight tooth pain.

The weekend after our arrival we have take therefore also very easy. Dietmar coughed up ever more fiercely to himself. Bei mir hatten sich die undefinierten Schmerzen im Kopf mittlerweile leider in sichere Zahnschmerzen verwandelt 🙁 Irgendwie hatte ich das Gefühl, that it could be something more and I decided, to fly back to Germany. Dentist is never a pleasure, but then I wanted to know that also the same reasonable done. Safe is safe.

My flight went from Porto to Frankfurt-Hahn. From there it should go on with the car after Leverkusen. My rental car booking made yesterday on the Internet was unfortunately still not confirmed have been. When I got off the plane in Frankfurt and went toward the rental car desk, I knew why. All queues and after an hour I knew: Today, I would get a car here :-(.

The connection of the Airport Frankfurt-Hahn to the public transport network is impressive. The next achievable, larger railway station in Mainz. And to Mainz to arrive by bus (Drive an hour and ten minutes). So I went on a little trip and reached Leverkusen against half past five.

End good – Everything good.

Hot springs with sea monsters :-)

On the first, We wanted to drive for Furnas some murky day of my mother with us on board. Here there are fumaroles as well as various hot springs. Particularly worth seeing that should but old Terra Nostra hotel with its large park, and the giant, be warm thermal bathing lake. The visit had been laid warmly us by various sailors at the heart. Also it has to get us, nur dunkle Badekleidung mitzunehmen und sich von der Farbe des Thermalwassers bloß nicht abschrecken zu lassen 🙂 Das konnte ja heiter werden 🙂

The main attraction of Sao Miguel is signposted at all conceivable corners of the island. We took along the way on the North Coast. After several photo stops at the many, ausgeschilderten “Miradoren” We reached the midday ” Lagoa the Furnas”.

KHX_9016

Unfortunately we had even no treats for the young lady. We wanted to change that in the future but.

We headed up once to the fumaroles. For this, it needed no sign, you had to follow only the columns of steam and the smell of the sources.

KHX_9109

So, we have also witnessed a “According to guide of special spectacle”. There were pots with “Cozido” buried in the hot Earth, to heat these underground. Cozido is a stew of various meats- and sausages with vegetables, You can make it without volcanic activity and which is generally very popular in Porugal.

KHX_9029

KHX_9101

KHX_9035

After an extensive tour, we had the urgent need for fresh air. Am Seeufer hatte der Gestank ein Ende 🙂 Hier stand auch ein Imbisswagen, the something special in the its range had. Cat dry food !

Satisfied, we continued in the city centre of Furnas. Parking spaces were scarce unfortunately, but we finally found one in front of the local soccer stadium. So we walked a short distance through the city to the Terra Nostra Park Hotels. The entrance was quite expensive for Azorean ratios with six euro per person, but it was well worth it. The park with Lakes, Is beautifully landscaped creeks and caves. Everywhere it flourished in a wide variety of shapes and colors.

KHX_9174

KHX_9216

KHX_9249

Only the thermal lake, with an opaque “Brown broth” was filled, had we leave still left. It is a special pleasure???? We were still not convinced and once needed a small strengthening. The bar of the Terra Notras was wonderfully suited hotels.

Who can claim, Once in a 30 x 50 Meters large bathtube in about one and a half metres water depth and swim to be ? 🙂

You should watch only on the sea monster.

BGL_4177

After the bath, we found, that not only dark swimsuit, but also dark towels by advantage would have been. But why is there finally washing machines?

2015-07-09 2

On our last vantage point we got rid even the remaining cat food, which we had purchased this afternoon. Apparently the wild cats around the vantage points around have settled and with good reason: Denn an jedem Aussichtpunkt ist auch gleich ein Picknick-Platz 🙂 Und wenn nicht zufällig irgendwelche Touristen Katzenfutter dabei haben, something from here sure often times for the hungry Pack. So the gang was at home but not so mopsig like our German cats, but fortunately still far away from a malnutrition.

Family holiday

Dietmar was already on Tuesday morning in wanderlust. On Wednesday morning, he would (At last) fly to Germany and to take part in the 25 H race of VW fun Cup at Spa. I wanted to take advantage of his absence, um einmal wieder richtig Urlaub zu machen 🙂 Und damit ich nicht so einsam sein würde, had I invited especially love family visiting from Germany: meine Mutter 🙂

Anyway, far too many people lived on Sao Miguel and especially Ponta Delgada to Dietmar taste. According to the other islands, it was also a little culture shock for us. Here live together as many people as the other eight Islands on Sao Miguel.

Nevertheless, was already clearly but then after lunch, When we were finally on the way. Our excursion was at first under a lucky star. The weather was pretty much to be desired and when I me right on the edge of the city of Ponta Delgada also still firmly proceeded, war der Ausflug eigentlich gelaufen 🙁 So beschlossen wir für uns, an diesem Nachmittag besser getrennte Weg zu gehen 🙂 Ich ließ meinen Mann mit seiner “Ring mood” am Hafen zurück und machte mich alleine auf die Socken 🙂

Sao Miguel is the island of hot springs and it steams and stinks in many different places.

KHX_8817

My first exploration led to the next hot spring and the associated fumaroles. Good, that's no “Smell photography” are, denn die Schwefelgase können schon recht unangenehm stinken 🙂

KHX_8840

Unfortunately you could in the place visited by me, use the water of the sources just in a not particularly inviting bath house in old bathtubs. So also no one gave this “Pleasure” Hin. Such an uncomfortable day a warm bath would have been something great, especially for sailors without bath on board.

But in Furnas, which should be possible in the next few days. Other sailors had raved about this place and very recommended visit. It is then for the next few days on the to-to list.

KHX_8879

So I brought even a little criss -cross through the western part of the island, aber das Wetter trieb mich dann doch zurück zum Hafen 🙂 Ab morgen soll aber wieder die Sonne scheinen. Best conditions, with my mother make the island uncertain.

Wednesday after breakfast we made our way to the airport. He was just around the corner and the Marina in the flight path. Good, that here mass tourism still not arrived.

Dietmar would disappear with same machine direction Germany, with my mother angekommt. Everything was perfectly organised. So we drank a farewell coffee at the airport, caught my mom in the “Arrival” AB, put the Dietmar “Departures” off and were an hour later back on the buzzer.

After the luggage and the souvenirs from Germany safe on the boat were stowed, We had to get into the holiday mood, a lunch in the restaurant at the port taste us. After such a long time, there is of course much to tell – especially, wenn Frauen unter sich sind 🙂

My mother was just as eager and curious to the island as I. Deshalb vertrödelten wir keine Zeit 🙂 Dietmar kaum weg als wir auch schon mit dem Mietwagen unterwegs waren.

Our first destination was the fog Lake, It is located pretty much in the middle of the island. In my travel guide, he was described as especially beautiful, If there above the clouds spoil one not the view. Und heute sah es sehr vielversprechend aus 🙂

KHX_8926

The Lake was actually scary beautiful. Down on the shore, one could also observe even a few a few people while bathing.

KHX_8968

Back in Ponta Delgada's continued in the old town. Here we had to find out more, What of with the “Holy Spirit”-Festival has to, the of the 9. up to 12. July will be celebrated in the city.

KHX_8997

Preparations were in any case already in full swing. The city centre was beautifully adorned with flags and pennants.

KHX_8985

A large Crown was built on the square in front of the gate of the city. After dinner we made unsafe the Internet on the SUMMER to find out, What to see will be here in the next few days. The website was quickly found, aber sie war leider nur in portugiesischer Sprache verfügbar 🙁 Das Problem war für uns ja nicht neu. Tomorrow we will try, with the help of “Leo” some clarity in the matter to bring. It would also be nice, auch etwas über die Hintergründe der Festivität zu erfahren 🙂 Aber Eile mit Weile. Tomorrow is another day.

And over water?????

Today was the day then, the “about water”-Exploration to start. Hochmotiviert kümmerten wir uns erst einmal um ein Auto und waren am frühen Nachmittag wie geplant mobil 🙂 Bus fahren ist auf Santa Maria wohl möglich, aber doch eher schwierig 🙂 Da das Wetter heute noch nicht so prickelnd war, extra so we rented the car, that we could do something tomorrow morning even :-). Sicherheitshalber 🙂

1

The island of Santa Maria is a really beautiful and informative travel guide. Many points of interest are shown there clean numbered with photos and described in detail. The only drawback: You can find anywhere, wo sich die Orte auf der Insel verstecken 🙁

However, since the roads on the island are only very sparsely signposted, We were not always there anyway, wo wir eigentlich hin wollten 🙂

By chance we stumbled on our Holy Seniora of Fatima Chapel. Were actually in search of the red sand desert, that somewhere in the North of the island hidden was. Big it might not be so comfortable.

KHX_8171

Today, the weather had read clearly the weather and the rain clouds, in the afternoon the rain should bring, were there already. But it was still dry and warm, nur die Aussicht war etwas eingeschränkt 🙁 Schade, because the coast is really impressive with the rugged cliffs and the Caribbean turquoise water.

KHX_8182

Is on Santa Maria, as well as on Pico, Wine grown on all slopes. The houses are painted here generally white and nearly all well maintained.

KHX_8219

Our last destination on our tour was in the northeast of the island of São Lourenço. From a vantage point overlooking probably large parts of the East coast on sunny days.

KHX_8233

When then the announced rain, We finished our trip and drove back to Vila do Porto Marina. In the evening we had with Steffen, arranged for his parents and the rest of the team of Wahoo diving for dinner. For this we wanted us in Maia in the restaurant “O Grota” meet. Actually only off 1. Opened July, The landlady for us but made an exception.

KHX_8272

After our rain break on the boat we headed to half on the way. Unfortunately, it was still raining :-(. We came across “UN-German” actually a bit too late. There, but all in the “Cow jam” have plugged, fiel es gar nicht weiter auf 🙂Inselleben eben 🙂

IMG-20150702-WA0002

IMG-20150702-WA0004

The evening was fun and the food excellent. There was an old family recipe in the pot with potatoes fish, Geschmorrt tomatoes and spices.

The next morning, early, we made on the way towards Santo Espírito. There should be the best bakery on the island and we wanted to have breakfast there too. Although Santo Espírito consists only of a few farmhouses and a church, had we ask only in a bar after the bakery. But the searching was really worth.

In the back of the bakery were several looms, where hand-crafted fine blankets and towels are manufactured, just like in old times.

Maia is a beautiful village on the East Coast. Last night was not even noticed us from sheer rain.

At the end of the village, you can find a waterfall next to the obligatory picnic area. Despite the rain of the last few days, the water was not very economical, from the rock face good 110 Trickled meters in depth. The winter was a little too dry on Santa Maria. Trotzdem ein toller Ort 🙂

The vineyards of the village pull up accurate and clean the mountain slopes is. Create the walls must have been a very hard work for men :-(. But it looks really great.

The Lighthouse is located at the Southeast tip of the island “Ponta de Castelo” and the old and abandoned whaling station of Santa Maria.

If you have a cloud-free day in the Azores, should you go directly to the next mountain and enjoy the view. You never know, When the opportunity comes again.

Before we had to return the rental car we bought some fresh things do Porto in Vila, and promptly fired him then at the airport.

Here are the towers for the air traffic control from the “Present and past” in lockstep next to each other. Why also tear down, es ist doch genug Platz da 🙂

Port cinema at its finest, Part II – In the main role: Henke family :-)

The morning before we left was actually completely normal and peaceful. Nothing indicated, was für traurige Szenen sich später noch abspielen sollten 🙂 Während ich noch ein Abendessen für die Überfahrt vorbereitete, checked Dietmar in the Harbour Office from. Then we took even a walk down to the Marina area, where were some boats ashore. There he wanted to introduce his new love me: a blue Nautors Swan 55 Yawl. Good, that nothing got with our SUMMER of :-). I'm there patient…..

On the way back we stumbled over a soapbox, its finish line located directly on the Harbour. We let us not escape, because we were not in such a hurry. We wanted to not leave the port before noon, to be quite sure, To reach Santa Maria the next day not in the dark.

Then it was ready and it was “Leinen los”. There already neatly blew wind from the side, We talked through whatever briefly the berthing. The last line, that should be solved, was the stern line. She should prevent, that the wind pushes us on our neighbours. Also, I could solve this line of Board. Soweit der Plan 🙂

When I had the first lines on the bridge, two lines were left and I got the instructions from the captain: “Now the stern line” Ok????? I'm used to from it me long time ago, in solchen Situationen zu diskutieren 🙂 Dann halt die Heckleine zuerst. Immediately saw movement in the boat. Dietmar could keep the SUMMER against the wind in position and had to quickly back out of the box. Quickly, I solved the last (ineffective) Spring and looked after the buzzer.

So I stood on the bridge and looked stupid out of laundry. After swimming was really no alternative, I found. After all, the SUMMER not quickly disappeared from the port, but Dietmar did his rounds from our former place of refuge.

Maybe front at the reception bar??? Unfortunately fully occupied. And the wind was blowing right on the pier. So we threw away the plan, on one of the boats to go alongside. After an unsuccessful exercise we were going no further risk.

Perhaps with a small fishing boat, that drove up just in the port??? Unfortunately, the Fischer understood no English, and so I could not bring my concern him. War aber ein guter Versuch 🙂

In the meantime, we were also observed. Port cinema at its finest, but this time we as actor. The Norwegians, which are your boat at the reception stage had, kindly offered, Images to make and to make the Internet. As it is always: Who does the damage, braucht für den Spott nicht zu sorgen 🙂

Maybe on the harbour wall opposite??? I makes me go walking on the way to the other side of the Harbour, While Dietmar in the dock turned laps. Once there a leap in good one and a half meters deep appeared uninviting me, because it was only a place on the ferry free.

Front of the Yacht Club I had see arrive a dinghy. Maybe I could convince someone there, for me to play taxi? Arrived at the pier, I tried my luck with English, Unfortunately again in vain. But the second young man, then back came to boat, could understand me. First he wanted to help but not. He must now start the regatta of sail children out there. Apparently he had not quite grasped the situation because when it became clear to him, He would pass on the SUMMER anyway, He immediately relented. I was so by two nice, young men brought directly to the bathing platform – What kind of a service.

So we continued our way together with a half-hour delay to Santa Maria. Dietmar was visibly pleased, to have me back on board. Das wollte ich ihm auch geraten haben 🙂

The crossing with pleasant wind and a shaft from the rear went quickly and smoothly. In the morning at 9: 00, we reached the Marina at Vila do Porto Santa Maria. An hour later the SUMMER was already neatly desalted cleaned and a hearty breakfast was on the table.

Then we phoned with Steffen of the dive.

More joy came on but, When we stumbled in the afternoon at the Jetty of a black and white Tomcat. As it turned out, He belonged to our French neighbors and heard (more or less) the name “Sikaflex”. A little later was told how he got the name. Sikaflex is a sealant, it sticks like the plague and is made in the colors black/white. His name was really program, as we found out in the next few days :-)In the afternoon he had paid us a short visit and as evening with us, the fish in the Pan bruzzelte, did he come “random” again over. Very charming and well-mannered he advantage until our hearts and then a considerable portion of fish is. Since he had chosen just the right. So we were happy all night long about that “Temporary cat” because he had already made himself easily's the whole night with us on board.
